Georgia-Pacific’s KOLO™ Smart Monitoring System Earns GBAC STAR™ Designation

The KOLO system is a wireless communication platform that alerts facility managers and custodians when something in a restroom needs their immediate attention

GP PRO’s KOLO™ Smart Monitoring System is among the first six technologies and programs to earn GBAC STAR™ Registered Technology & Registered Programs designation. This designation recognizes innovations that meet a high standard of cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention.

As the cleaning industry’s only outbreak prevention, response and recovery accreditation, GBAC STAR, an accreditation program of the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC), a division of ISSA, helps organizations establish protocols and procedures, offers expert-led training, and assesses readiness for biorisk situations. Being registered verifies that the KOLO system is approved for use with GBAC STAR protocols and standards.

The KOLO system is a wireless communication platform that alerts facility managers and custodians when something in a restroom needs their immediate attention. Specifically, through connected GP PRO paper towel, tissue, soap, and sanitizer dispensers, the KOLO System sends notifications regarding dispenser issues and product levels to help avoid outages and ensure a positive restroom experience. Through a task management capability, the KOLO System sends alerts about specific enhanced cleaning and sanitizing tasks to be completed.

“With so many options on the market today, it can be overwhelming for decision makers to select the best equipment, chemicals or programs,” said Patricia Olinger, executive director of GBAC. “With GBAC STAR Registered, it’s clear which solutions and programs have been vetted by experts and meet a higher level of cleanliness and safety. This allows managers to better equip and train professionals so they can more easily and effectively uphold public health.”

“The KOLO Smart Monitoring System has proven to be an invaluable resource for facilities looking for effective and efficient ways to improve hygiene. While this is critically important as we continue to navigate the risks associated with COVID-19, it will continue to be critically important as facilities strive to minimize and mitigate the risks of future infectious outbreaks,” said John Strom, vice president and general manager of connected solutions with GP PRO. “We are thrilled to earn this GBAC STAR designation and for GBAC to recognize the important benefits the KOLO system provides in advancing health and safety.”

To become GBAC STAR Registered, the KOLO system had to meet specific requirements including demonstrating advantages over existing offerings in terms of efficacy, cost, health and safety, etc., as well as show scientific evidence that it will make an effective contribution in preventing the spread of COVID-19 or any other diseases.
