Kimberly-Clark’s international tissue business attracts interest from major players
The U.S. company's international tissue division has attracted interest from potential buyers such as Suzano, RGE and Asia Pulp & Paper Co.
According to Bloomberg News, the potential sale of Kimberly-Clark’s international tissue division has piqued the interest of potential buyers such as the Asian group Royal Golden Eagle (RGE), Brazil’s Suzano and Asia Pulp & Paper Co (APP).
According to sources, the North American multinational’s business unit could be valued at around US$ 4 billion, but deliberations are ongoing and may not lead to an actual transaction.
Representatives from Kimberly-Clark and RGE declined to comment on the matter, while representatives from Suzano and APP have not responded.
In March 2024, Kimberly-Clark announced that it would reorganize its operations to bring together its international consumer tissue and professional tissue businesses in a new division called International Family Care & Professional.
The business unit generates around $3.5 billion in sales per year, with operating margins of 10%, according to a statement at the time. This will be one of the three main segments to have its structure revised, along with a new North American division and another group covering its international personal care operations. The company announced that it will release its 2024 results on January 28.
