New York’s tallest building has adopted the award-winning Onvation Smart Restroom solution

System provides real-time notifications for the condition of its 140 restrooms at 1WTC

The new feature from Kimberly-Clark Professional and GOJO Industries, controls and optimizes the maintenance of the 140 restrooms at One World Trade Center in New York City. Onvation Smart Restroom provides real-time notifications about the condition of the restrooms and alerts staff about everything from dispenser jams and product depletion to toilet footfall spikes. The system provides digital management tools and analytics that help eliminate inefficiencies by highlighting traffic patterns and product usage trends. For example, now during the pandemic, Onvation has found that bathroom visitors use up to twice as much soap and 24% more towels than before.

“We are honored to bring this innovative technology to such an iconic property as One World Trade Center”, said Shavonne Williams, Onvation brand manager at Kimberly-Clark Professional. “The bathroom is one of the top three sources of tenant complaints. Our patented smart detection technology enables facilities management teams to be proactive and strategic about bathroom maintenance, rather than chasing tenant complaints day in and day out”.

“We’ve had excellent results implementing this solution”, said John Mongello, vice president of building services at The Durst Organization, which manages One World Trade Center as part of a portfolio that includes 13 million square feet of office and retail space. “We are extremely impressed with the Onvation technology and now manage the maintenance of our restrooms more efficiently”.

Key benefits of Onvation’s smart toilet solution include:

  • Sustainability – When dispensers are restocked on a fixed schedule, rather than by necessity, a lot of product is wasted due to premature restocking.
  • Better staff allocation – Rather than treating all toilets equally, Onvation allows properties to assign staff to areas according to need. This frees up time to focus on other tasks.
  • Cost savings – The system delivers measurable results, saving money and time.
  • Tenant satisfaction – The product demonstrates the property’s commitment to new and innovative technologies.
