P&G maintains plan to cut up to 7,000 non-manufacturing jobs by 2027, but offers no details

The company confirms that the job reductions are part of a global restructuring strategy estimated to cost up to $1.6 billion over two years

Procter & Gamble, the world’s largest consumer goods company, reaffirmed this week its plan to reduce up to 7,000 non-manufacturing positions by the end of fiscal year 2027. However, the company has not yet provided any specific information about how or where the cuts will take place.

The workforce reduction is part of a broader portfolio and productivity plan announced in June 2025, aimed at improving P&G’s cost structure and overall competitiveness. The move comes amid continued cost pressures, tariff-related uncertainties, and inconsistent consumer demand across key markets.

According to the company, the total estimated cost of the restructuring ranges from $1 billion to $1.6 billion before taxes over a two-year period. P&G expects to incur about half of those costs by the end of fiscal 2026, with the remainder allocated in 2027.

Headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, P&G employs approximately 100,000 people worldwide and operates across multiple consumer product categories, including tissue paper, disposable personal care products, cleaning, and hygiene.

In the official presentation shared in June, the company stated that the goal of the plan is to “focus its portfolio and organization to improve its cost structure and competitiveness”. The strategy involves portfolio streamlining, operational simplification, and organizational adjustments, primarily targeting overhead functions.

Although manufacturing operations are not expected to be affected, the restructuring is being closely monitored by analysts and investors due to its potential impact on P&G’s global efficiency and the performance of its brands in strategic markets such as the United States and Canada.
