Resolute Forest Products shared its 2021 CDP scores, reflecting its ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance.
CDP is a globally recognized, non-profit framework that has long championed environmental disclosure as standard business practice. Participation in CDP’s disclosure programs allow organizations to measure their progress and drive action around their sustainability performance.
Resolute has voluntarily completed CDP disclosures since the program’s inception in 2006, demonstrating its steadfast commitment to transparency.
FORESTS
Resolute reaffirmed its leadership in forest management with an “A-” score for its forest’s disclosures, once again placing it at the leadership level. The company’s score remains among the highest achieved in this category by any North America-based forest products company, reflecting its strong commitment to responsibly managing the natural resources in its care. Resolute has reported to CDP’s forests programs since 2012, the year the program launched.
CLIMATE CHANGE
Resolute increased its score in the climate change category to a “B” from “B-”, maintaining its placement at the management level. The improvement reflects the concrete actions it has taken on climate issues, and the steps it has implemented to manage the carbon footprint. The company has reported to CDP’s climate change program since 2006, beginning with scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions, and adding scope 3 (supply chain) emissions in 2015.
WATER SECURITY
The company sustained a “B” in the water security category, a management level score that reflects the actions it has taken to evaluate and manage environmental risks relating to its use and treatment of water. Resolute began reporting to CDP’s water security disclosure program in 2013.
