Suzano and Sofidel strengthen Amazon bioeconomy with seedling project
Initiative involving families in Pará generated €6,800 in its first sale of native fruit seedlings in 2025

Suzano, in partnership with Sofidel S.p.A., Amazônia, and the Brazilian Institute for Development and Sustainability (IABS), is advancing a project to strengthen the bioeconomy in the Amazon region. The initiative, known as the Seedling Nursery Project, supplies native fruit seeds to agroforestry backyards of participating families.
The program aims to build sustainable economic alternatives, promote income generation, empower local communities and organizations, and improve food and nutritional sovereignty in the region. A key step was mapping species and seedling demand to support the work of the Rural Community Nursery at the 50 BIS Settlement.
In its first sale of 2025, the project generated €6,800 through the distribution of more than 4,000 seedlings, with the active participation of 17 families.
