Consulting firm Zen Clean Energy Solutions has been selected by the BC Bioenergy Network, in partnership with FortisBC, The Pulp and Paper BioAlliance and The Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions, to complete a hydrogen study which focuses on decarbonising British Columbia’s pulp and paper industry.
Pre-Feasibility Study: Hydrogen Generation in BC’s Pulp & Paper Sector will model and assess economic opportunities to increase the competitiveness and diversification of BC’s pulp and paper sector by incorporating hydrogen production into operations.
The study will also assess the technical challenges and the life cycle analysis related to the adoption of hydrogen in the sector. The outcome of the study and model will demonstrate the potential economic value of hydrogen and oxygen produced via electrolysis and highlight the market potential.
Zen Clean Energy Solutions has said the workplan will be broken into three major tasks:
- Information review and data gathering.
- Model building and sensitivity analysis.
- Equipment consideration and hydrogen and oxygen use opportunities.
Stakeholder engagement and rapid iteration will be critical through all phases of the project.
