Eli Manning joins Auburn fans in setting world toilet paper record at Toomer’s Corner

More than 7,000 rolls thrown on oak trees during filming of “Eli’s Places”; Alabama Governor recognizes achievement with official plaque

Eli Manning joined Auburn fans on Tuesday in setting a world record for the most toilet paper ever rolled onto two oak trees at Toomer’s Corner, a longstanding Auburn tradition following major sports victories.

The event, part of Manning’s ESPN+ show Eli’s Places, featured an estimated 7,125 rolls tossed by fans and guests, including former Auburn quarterbacks Patrick Nix and Bo Nix. The total count was based on the number of rolls purchased for the event and those brought by attendees.

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey, though not present at the event, officially recognized the achievement and commissioned a plaque. “In accordance with all available records, these individuals achieved what was previously unheard of by any other person in history,” said Auburn professor Keith S. Hébert, reading from the governor’s proclamation.

The Montgomery Advertiser noted that no previous official record existed, meaning this event now sets the standard for future rollings of Toomer’s Corner.

The tradition, rooted in Auburn sports history, traces back to when Toomer’s Drugs housed the city’s only telegraph. After away-game victories, employees would celebrate by throwing ticker tape, evolving into today’s toilet paper toss. The original oaks, poisoned in 2010 after an Iron Bowl game, were replaced in 2015.
