Essity launches initiative to support local communities in North America
Made Here, Stays Here connects products manufactured at Essity’s North American facilities with local nonprofit organizations, starting with a donation to Safeplace, Inc. in Alabama
Essity has launched Made Here, Stays Here, an initiative designed to strengthen the communities where the company operates by connecting products manufactured at its North American facilities with local needs. Under the program, employees at participating sites will vote to select local organizations to receive support.
The initiative began at Essity’s Barton facility in Alabama, where employees selected Safeplace, Inc. as the program’s first community partner. The organization received a financial donation and essential Tork® hygiene products, with an additional toilet paper donation planned for December.
SUPPORTING SAFEPLACE IN NORTHWEST ALABAMA
Safeplace provides assistance to individuals and families affected by domestic violence across Northwest Alabama. Its services include emergency shelter, crisis intervention, counseling, legal advocacy and prevention education.
Community contributions play an important role in helping the organization cover day-to-day expenses that may not be covered by grant funding.
Essity representatives visited Safeplace to deliver the donated products and recognize the organization as the first partner under the Made Here, Stays Here initiative.
“Safeplace relies on community support to sustain our shelters,” said Sandra Ellis, executive director of Safeplace. “Thank you all for being community leaders with a heart for helping!”
STRENGTHENING LOCAL CONNECTIONS
Made Here, Stays Here gives Essity employees a direct role in supporting organizations that address important needs in their communities. By linking products manufactured locally with nonprofits serving nearby residents, the initiative aims to provide practical assistance while strengthening the company’s ties to the communities where its employees live and work.
