West Fraser sells Hinton Pulp mill to Mondi Group plc
Company announces completion of transaction following regulatory approval in Canada and expresses optimism about the mill's future
West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd. has announced the completion of the sale of its Hinton Pulp mill to Mondi Group plc (Mondi), following regulatory approval in Canada and the satisfaction of customary closing conditions.
Sean McLaren, West Fraser’s president and chief executive officer, stated “We would like to thank our dedicated employees, the Hinton community and the Alberta government for their efforts in helping to close this transaction.” “The future of the Hinton Pulp mill is bright.”
Hinton Pulp is known for its production of unbleached kraft pulp. Despite the sale, West Fraser will continue to support the mill through a long-term fiber supply agreement.
