Cascades Inc. invests US$6.9 million to upgrade recycled board plant in Kingsey Falls

The project aims to increase production capacity and enhance sheet quality for the food packaging market

Cascades Inc. announced a US$6.9 million investment in its uncoated recycled board manufacturing facility located in Kingsey Falls, aiming to increase equipment production capacity and improve product quality.

Since September last year, the company has installed several new systems designed to enhance sheet quality control. According to Cascades, the upgrades will significantly improve sheet properties, including surface finish and printing requirements, key attributes for the food packaging industry.

The investment represents an important step in strengthening the company’s position in the packaging market while supporting long-term competitiveness and growth.

The company’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Hugues Simon, stated that the project will help expand production capacity and reinforce Cascades’ role as a partner for its customers. He also highlighted the company’s commitment to investing in its assets in Quebec and acknowledged the contribution of employees involved in installing the new equipment.

Commissioned in 1972, the Kingsey Falls facility currently serves the industrial and food packaging markets. The site employs 68 people and is considered one of the main employers in the region.

Founded in 1964, Cascades develops sustainable and value-added solutions for packaging, hygiene and recovery sectors. The company operates nearly 60 facilities across North America and employs about 9,000 people. Over the past seven years, it has been ranked among the world’s 100 most sustainable companies in the Global 100, published by Corporate Knights.
