Eldorado reaches the milestone of 14 million tons of produced pulp
The number exceeds, by 1.250 million tons, the total expected for the Três Lagoas plant
Eldorado Brasil, a pulp supplier for the North American tissue market, reached the mark of 14 million tons of pulp manufactured at the Três Lagoas (MS) plant – the number exceeds, by 1,250 million tons, the total expected by the company. The industry has an installed capacity of 1.5 million tons of pulp per year but has been operating above this limit since 2014.
“These 14 million tons represent the capacity of a high-performance team to overcome, combined with the operational stability of the factory, which is the result of a management based on people, critical risks, systemic thinking and cutting-edge innovation and technology”, says the industrial director, Carlos Monteiro.
Eldorado started producing pulp in November 2012 and, since then, has accumulated successive records. Last year, for example, 1.77 million tons were produced; in the first quarter of 2021, 439 thousand tons of the fiber were manufactured – an increase of 12% over the same period last year.
Since April this year, the company’s first thermoelectric plant has been in operation, with the capacity to generate 50 MW (megawatts) of electricity from eucalyptus stumps and roots. For comparison purposes, this amount of energy is enough to supply a city with up to 700 thousand inhabitants.
Currently, Eldorado has more than five thousand employees. Of this total, more than 600 people were hired during the first half of 2021 – an average of 100 new employees per month – an advance that sustains the company’s activities in Mato Grosso do Sul.
