Kimberly-Clark honors veterans through Old Glory Honor Flights and annual fundraiser
The company’s SALUTE ERG sponsored honor flights for veterans, donated essential supplies, and raised over US$150,000 to support veteran memorial visits in Washington, D.C.
Kimberly-Clark’s U.S.-based employee resource group (ERG) for veterans, SALUTE, has strengthened its support for military veterans by sponsoring the Old Glory Honor Flight missions. Three veteran family members of Kimberly-Clark employees participated in these honor flights, which provide free, day-long trips to Washington, D.C., for veterans who served before 1975. The flights allow veterans to visit national military memorials and cemeteries, offering a tribute to their service. Upon their return, veterans are greeted by thousands and receive thank you letters from friends and family. To support these emotional journeys, Kimberly-Clark donated Kleenex® Pocket Packs to supply honor flights for over two years.
Additionally, employees from the Neenah Cold Spring facility (NCSF) participated in the 15th annual Pulling for Honor event, which raised funds for the honor flight program. Teams competed to pull a 180,000-pound jetliner, with Kimberly-Clark’s team placing fourth in the event. Through collaboration with local organizations and individual donors, the team raised over US$150,000 for the honor flights.
Wayne B., a senior scientist at Kimberly-Clark and national co-chair of the SALUTE ERG, participated in an honor flight this summer alongside his father, David, both U.S. Navy veterans. Reflecting on the experience, Wayne noted: “The overwhelming support shown for our military veterans is moving and deeply appreciated by my father and all the returning veterans. This experience will stay with us all for some time”.
