Manufacturer increases tissue paper prices by up to 10%
In order to mitigate production costs, especially due to the increase in the price of raw material, the adjustment will take effect from May
Tissue manufacturers’ operating costs have increased recently due to several global macroeconomic challenges, most notably the increase in pulp prices. Against this backdrop, The Navigator Company, a Portuguese pulp and paper company and one of the country’s leading tissue paper producers, announced an 8% to 10% increase in tissue prices in all markets where it operates.
The company announced the adjustment on Wednesday 24, to mitigate production costs. According to Navigator’s press release, the adjustment will take effect as of May.
The decision was taken mainly considering the increase in the price of cellulose since August 2023, which is the main cost for the company’s tissue production. In this regard, the reference price of the raw material has increased by 65% since August, and another adjustment in the price of the raw material has already been announced for May, which adds another 10% to the current price.
Thus, Navigator stated that the measure is essential to ensure the long-term sustainability of its business model and the financial balance of the global supply chain, together with its customers and suppliers. The company also stressed that it will continue to strengthen its value proposition in several dimensions, such as the high quality of its products, services and innovations.
