Metsä Fibre to begin negotiations on possible layoffs at Joutseno pulp mill

Temporary production adjustments due to low delivery volumes may result in layoffs lasting up to 90 days, affecting the entire workforce

Metsä Fibre, a subsidiary of Metsä Group, is set to commence negotiations regarding potential layoffs at the Joutseno pulp mill. This decision comes in response to the need for temporary production adjustments due to low delivery volumes. The negotiations will involve the entire workforce of the Joutseno pulp mill, which consists of approximately 190 employees.

If implemented, the proposed layoffs could last up to 90 days and may occur in several phases, extending until the end of January 2025. The negotiations are scheduled to begin in week 33 and are expected to last about two weeks. Details regarding the scope, number, and timing of the layoffs will be finalized by the end of the year.
