Metsä Group’s Kemi bioproduct mill has resumed operations following a staged restart process. The mill had been shut down due to a gas explosion in the evaporation plant in March, which necessitated extensive repairs.
Alongside the repair work, the mill also conducted its annual maintenance during this production hiatus. To guarantee the long-term usability and planned lifespan of the evaporation plant, the damaged units will be entirely replaced at a future date yet to be determined. The mill is now working towards increasing production in line with its start-up plan.
