Sofidel France to expand biomass energy capacity
The new biomass boiler project aimed to reduce CO2 emissions by 9,100 tons annually, reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainable energy
Sofidel France is set to enhance its biomass energy capabilities with the construction of a second biomass boiler at its Frouard plant. Construction is slated to commence in the fall, with the new boiler expected to be operational by 2025. This investment aims to significantly cut the plant’s CO2 emissions by 9,100 tons annually.
The Frouard plant already houses a biomass boiler that has been functional for nearly a decade. Upon reaching full capacity, the two boilers will collectively generate 95% of the steam required to heat the drying cylinders of the plant’s two paper machines.
This initiative aligns with Sofidel Group’s broader multi-option strategy, which tailors’ energy policies to fit the specific climatic and regulatory conditions of the countries in which it operates.
