Tork and BC Place partner to strengthen hygiene and sustainability at major Canadian stadium
The collaboration aims to enhance fan experience with high-capacity hygiene solutions while supporting the venue’s sustainability goals ahead of major sporting events in 2026
Tork, a brand of Essity, and BC Place stadium in Vancouver have announced a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening hygiene standards, sustainability, and the overall fan experience at one of Canada’s leading sports venues.
Home to the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League and Vancouver Whitecaps FC of Major League Soccer, the stadium is preparing to welcome millions of international visitors for major sporting events in 2026, making the partnership a timely investment ahead of a landmark year.
Under the agreement, Tork will implement its high-capacity hygiene solutions across the 54,500-seat stadium, including its PeakServe® and OptiServe® dispenser systems. More than 1,000 dispensers will be installed throughout the venue, including across 129 restrooms, helping enhance operational efficiency and maintain high cleanliness standards.
According to Chris May, general manager of BC Place, partnering with a hygiene provider that contributes to both operational performance and sustainability strategy is essential. He noted that Tork’s solutions will support the venue’s goal of achieving Zero Waste Certification while maintaining clean and welcoming spaces for guests.
Both organizations share a strong commitment to environmental stewardship. In 2025, Essity was recognized on the Global 100 list by Corporate Knights and received an A rating from CDP for its forest management performance. Meanwhile, BC Place aims to achieve Zero Waste Certification by 2026.
Tork solutions — including carbon-neutral certified dispenser systems and SEAL Sustainability Award winners — are expected to help reduce consumption and minimize waste across the facility.
According to Brandy Afoon, Essity account manager, the partnership reflects a long-term collaboration focused on continuous improvement and enhancing the overall guest experience while maintaining a clean and comfortable environment.
