Clearwater Paper suspends operations in Idaho due to gas supply incident

Arsen Kitch, CEO, prioritizes employee safety and announces plans to resume operations in the coming days

Clearwater Paper announced the temporary suspension of certain operations at its Lewiston, Idaho facility. The outage, caused by an incident on the regional natural gas system, has affected the supply of gas to the mill and surrounding areas.

“We are focused on the safety of our employees and maintaining our assets while we wait for repairs on the gas pipeline to be completed,” said Arsen Kitch, president and chief executive officer. “We expect to resume the impacted operations in the coming days.”

The company, a leader in the production of private label tissue for large retailers, also plays a crucial role in the manufacture of bleached paperboard for printers and packaging converters. Its services, such as laminating and custom slitting, add value through quality and service-based relationships.

The announcement incorporates forward-looking statements regarding the curtailment of production and the resumption of operations at Lewiston, with potential impacts on employees, assets and customers. The company, subject to change, undertakes no obligation to update these statements based on new developments or changes in expectations, as indicated in its 2022 Annual Report to the Securities and Exchange Commission.
