Suzano, the world’s largest producer of eucalyptus short-fiber pulp, announced on Tuesday (22) new price increases for the raw material in its main markets.
The adjustments will take effect in October in the Americas, Europe, China and other Asian countries, as the company continues to monitor supply and demand conditions in the global pulp market.
In the Americas and Europe, the increase will be US$50 per tonne. Following the adjustment, the reference price for short-fiber pulp in the European market is expected to reach US$1,360 per tonne.
The new increase comes approximately five months after Suzano’s previous adjustment for these regions. In April, the company announced a US$50-per-tonne increase, which came into effect in May.
ASIAN MARKET ALSO AFFECTED BY PRICE INCREASE
In Asia, Suzano’s announced adjustment will amount to US$20 per tonne, also effective from October. The increase comes less than a month after the company announced an adjustment of the same amount for the region.
Short-fiber pulp is currently traded in Asia at between US$570 and US$580 per tonne. With the new adjustment, prices are expected to move to a range of US$590 to US$600 per tonne.
The price increases announced by Suzano come amid ongoing monitoring of international pulp prices and supply and demand conditions in the main consumer markets.
