Metsä Tissue ends recycled fibre production in Mänttä, Finland
The mill will focus on hygiene products made from fresh fibre; layoffs expected by the first half of 2026

Metsä Tissue, the tissue paper division of Metsä Group, has concluded the change negotiations initiated in March 2025 regarding the restructuring of its mill in Mänttä, Finland. The changes include the discontinuation of recycled fibre production and the closure of one tissue paper machine, as part of the company’s strategy to focus on hygiene products made from fresh fibre.
As a result, seven employees will be laid off, with the dismissals expected to take place during the first half of 2026. Metsä Tissue stated that those affected will be offered other job opportunities within the Metsä Group.
The Mänttä mill produces tissue paper products under the Serla, Lambi and Katrin brands, as well as private label products and SAGA baking and cooking papers.
