Metsä Tissue’s Swedish plants certified with Nordic Swan Ecolabel under new criteria
Mariestad and Småland units achieve environmental certification, meeting higher standards for lower-impact production

Metsä Tissue’s production sites in Mariestad and Småland, Sweden, have received the Nordic Swan ecolabel for their tissue products under the label’s newly tightened criteria. The certification recognizes the environmental performance of the mills in areas such as raw materials, energy use, emissions, and chemicals.
According to the company, the achievement reflects its commitment to sustainability, innovation, and technological development.
“Our objective is even higher. That’s why we continue to invest in new technologies, review energy and water use, and further reduce our emissions. And above all, we continue the journey toward fossil fuel-free production by 2030,” says Joakim Brenden, Vice President of Operations, Sweden, at Metsä Tissue.
