Sofidel expands business in Europe and signs agreement with Hakle GmbH

The Italian company announced that it has signed an agreement with the German Hakle GmbH to acquire the Hakle trademark and other brands

Sofidel, one of the world’s leading paper groups for the production of paper for hygienic and domestic use known particularly in Italy and Europe for its Regina brand, announced that it has entered into an agreement with Hakle GmbH, a German tissue paper company that filed for insolvency last year, to acquire Hakle trademark and other brands.

More specifically the framework of the agreement includes the acquisition by Sofidel of well-known consumer brand Hakle and other important brands (such as Dick&Durstig and Servus), along with IP (intellectual property) rights and Domains.

The signed transaction structure allows Hakle GmbH to continue to produce with paper production and paper processing under a new name at the Düsseldorf-Reisholz site.

“This acquisition strengthens our positioning in the European consumer brands market,” states Luigi Lazzareschi, CEO of the Sofidel Group.

“Our perseverance in the bidding process was as correct as important. We were able to win over an owner-managed strategic investor to realign us,” explains Volker Jung on behalf of Hakle GmbH.

The acquisition will become effective upon completion of the authorization process required by applicable legislation.
