Georgia-Pacific supports technical education with donation to Florence-Darlington Technical College
The contribution aims to strengthen academic programs focused on manufacturing careers
Georgia-Pacific has donated USD 5,000 to the Florence-Darlington Technical College Educational Foundation to support two of the institution’s academic programs: mechatronics engineering technology and electronics engineering technology.
Both programs are designed to prepare students for a wide range of technical careers within the manufacturing sector, combining classroom instruction with hands-on laboratory experience aligned with current industry needs.
According to a statement released by the college, the donation is part of Georgia-Pacific’s ongoing commitment to workforce development and community partnerships.
Company representatives highlighted the role of Florence-Darlington Technical College in preparing students for specialized technical careers and emphasized the importance of education as a driver of long-term economic growth in local communities.
The electronics engineering technology program provides students with classroom and laboratory training to build, test, troubleshoot, and repair electronic circuits and equipment, preparing graduates for careers across multiple manufacturing industries.
Meanwhile, the mechatronics program equips students for roles such as maintenance technicians and equipment installers, offering training in areas including welding, machining, programmable logic controls, electrical systems, fluid power, mechanical applications, and robotics.
