Essity Chairman Pär Boman announces strategic retirement

Pär Boman decides not to seek re-election as leader of global hygiene and healthcare giant, Essity, after remarkable achievements and progress

In a major turn of events, Pär Boman has announced his decision not to seek re-election as Chairman of Essity’s Board of Directors, committing to remain in office until March 2024.

“I have today informed Essity’s Nomination Committee that I intend to step down in conjunction with next year’s Annual General Meeting,” says Pär Boman, Chairman of Essity’s Board of Directors.

In 2017, Essity made its debut on Nasdaq Stockholm, and has since established itself as a global benchmark in hygiene and healthcare. During 2022, its revenues reached an impressive SEK 156 billion, cementing its position as one of Sweden’s leading companies. Its products, which include leading brands such as TENA, Tork, Actimove, JOBST, Knix, Leukoplast, Libero, Libresse, Lotus, Nosotras, Saba, Vinda and Tempo, are marketed in 150 countries, reaching one billion people worldwide daily.

“It has been inspiring to work alongside Essity’s management and 48,000 employees and contribute to the company’s development, which has included extensive market, product and innovation development, digital transformation activities, strong e-commerce growth and leading sustainability work. The company is now well on track to achieve a return of 17% on capital employed by 2025,” says Pär Boman.
