The global hygiene and health company joined CDP’s prestigious A List for forests and received an A- climate rating, highlighting its commitment to environmental transparency

Global hygiene and health company Essity has been named to CDP’s prestigious A List for its leadership in corporate transparency and forest performance. The company also received an A- rating for climate, underscoring its sustainability commitment.

More than 22,000 companies from 130 countries participated in CDP’s 2025 questionnaire, which assesses criteria including environmental targets, governance, impact reduction initiatives, and value chain engagement. CDP scores companies from A to D, with Essity ranking among the top 4% that achieved A List status this year.

According to Sahil Tesfu, Essity’s Chief Strategy & Sustainability Officer, the recognition reflects the company’s dedication to sustainable practices across its entire value chain. Essity continues to prioritize its ambition to reach net zero emissions by 2050 and its participation in the Science Based Targets initiative since 2017, aligning improvements in the lives of more than one billion daily product users with footprint reduction.

Forests play a critical role in biodiversity preservation and climate change mitigation. As a global buyer of virgin and recycled wood-based fibers, Essity works to ensure that all wood fiber is certified and sourced through third-party Chain of Custody systems such as FSC and PEFC.

Essity is progressing toward its 2050 net zero goal, with an interim target to reduce emissions by 35% across its entire value chain by 2030, including own operations, purchased goods and services, transportation, products, and production waste. The company focuses on high-impact areas and collaborates with partners to advance sustainability across the broader value chain.

CDP operates the world’s largest environmental database, and its annual assessment process is widely recognized as a leading benchmark for corporate environmental transparency and performance.
