Georgia-Pacific, continues its ongoing search for efficiencies and business tools to transform itself and meet the needs of its customers. The company’s Technology Group, in collaboration with more than 100 facilities, focuses on addressing equipment and process reliability. Notably, the Collaboration and Support Center (CSC) uses artificial intelligence (AI) to anticipate equipment failures, avoiding unplanned downtime and significant impacts.

The company is driving its transformation by recruiting key external partners, such as KCF Technologies. This strategic collaboration focuses on the deployment of more than 62,000 sensors globally since 2018. Thanks to this partnership, Georgia-Pacific’s Collaboration and Support Center (CSC) uses artificial intelligence to analyze data in real time, ensuring the reliability of operations and improving safety and productivity in work environments.

Jeremy Frank, executive director of KCF, said “Our collaboration with Georgia-Pacific goes beyond just sensor installations; it embodies impactful innovation at scale. Together, we have made major strides in significantly decreasing unplanned downtime, enhancing safety for the maintenance teams, and democratizing data throughout the organization. Through this partnership, Georgia-Pacific has set a new, higher standard in the global industry, showcasing the extraordinary results achievable with their vision and dedication to continuous improvement”.

Data collection not only gives employees the ability to build an informative history, but also facilitates more informed business decisions. Georgia-Pacific’s competitive advantage has experienced remarkable growth, driven by increased equipment efficiency and safer work environments, where employees no longer need to approach machinery to detect problems. This approach has strengthened the company’s position in the marketplace, improving both productivity and workplace safety.

David Bonfante, Asset Health – CSC, Georgia-Pacific said “Georgia-Pacific’s Collaboration and Support Center allows facilities partnering with us to identify specific asset health issues that need to be solved in real time. Instead of collecting data and manually looking for issues on a routine basis, employees can spend a greater percentage of their time solving problems. We exist to help our operating facilities and their employees be more efficient”.
