Ontex proves the effectiveness of the Orizon diaper against incontinence

After a field study carried out in Germany, the results showed a 100% reduction in daytime and nighttime leakage with the use of the smart diaper

Ontex, an international provider of personal care solutions, carried out between February and March 2022, a field study with its digital solution for incontinence care, the Orizon smart diaper service, at the Palmscher Garten nursing home in the town of Deizisau, Germany, with the help of ten residents and 25 caregivers.

The results confirmed other pilot projects carried out in Europe, reaching the conclusion that by using Orizon diapers on ten German nursing home residents, caregivers reduced by 3.2 hours a day and seven fewer diapers in the daily care. Residents also slept at least eight hours a night, as there was no need to check the diapers saturation for that period, preventing sleep disturbances.

Michael Schildt, director of the nursing home, said, “Orizon has enabled residents to live an even more self-determined life and have a more comfortable daily routine. Especially with incontinence, this is very important for well-being. In addition, colleagues had more time for conversations and encounters – that’s also a big advantage.”

In addition to the fact that diapers only need to be changed when necessary, without bothering at night, Ontex’s technology has saved about ten minutes of 2 nurses per wet bed, optimizing time. It was also observed that there were no more leaks during the day or night, eliminating the need for additional bedding changes.

The field study helped provide insights into leakage reduction, ease of use, and impact on caregivers and residents. Results showed a 100% reduction in daytime and nighttime leakage and an overall reduction in the negative impacts of incontinence, including the elimination of bed linen changes due to urine leakage.

LAUNCH ON THE EUROPEAN MARKET

In addition to Germany, Ontex has carried out pilot projects in Belgium and France and will soon start a pilot project in Italy and the UK. The company plans to launch the digital incontinence management service across Europe between late 2022 and early 2023. The service launches under the new Orizon brand, with its Serenity and iD incontinence brands, driven by existing brand awareness. and a strong reputation in European nursing homes.

Unlike most existing Ontex brands and incontinence services, Orizon is based on a monthly fee. With the introduction of Orizon, the company aims to optimize the overall cost of continence care by reducing waste, linen expenses and staff time spent on continence care.
