Lucart marks 20 years of sustainability reporting with focus on growth and environmental goals

The company celebrates key milestones, including waste recovery targets, CO₂ reduction, and a leadership transition to its third generation

Lucart has presented its 20th Sustainability Report at the National Museum of Science and Technology “Leonardo da Vinci” in Milan, highlighting two decades of commitment to responsible industrial practices and environmental stewardship. The report, titled “Our Vision Lights Up the Future,” reflects the company’s belief in long-term, shared vision as a driver for progress, even amid global challenges.

The 2024 edition details Lucart’s major achievements, including surpassing its 2030 waste recovery target by recovering more than 90% of production waste ahead of schedule. The company also achieved ISO 45001 certification for all its plants, reinforcing its focus on occupational health and safety.

Lucart reported a 3.43% year-over-year reduction in CO₂ emissions, reaching 387.53 kg per ton of paper produced and converted. Specific water consumption dropped to 9.43 m³/ton a 26.8% reduction compared to 2013 levels — moving closer to its 2025 target. Additionally, 100% of Lucart’s packaging is now recyclable or compostable, with 82% containing over 30% recycled material.

The report also marks a pivotal moment in Lucart’s corporate governance. In 2024, Francesco Pasquini was appointed CEO, representing the third generation of family leadership, while Azzurra Capital became a shareholder in Lucart’s holding company.

“This twentieth Report,” said Francesco Pasquini, CEO of Lucart, “is not just an account of our performance, but a key milestone in a long journey made of courage, consistency, and vision. Over these twenty years, we have built an innovative and sustainable industrial model that combines quality, competitiveness, and care for the environment and people. Today, with Azzurra Capital joining the holding’s capital, we have new resources and a renewed governance that will allow us to accelerate international development while remaining true to our values. The challenges are many, but we are ready to face them with the strength of those who have a clear direction: to create shared value for all our stakeholders.”

Lucart closed 2024 with a turnover of €685 million and continues to strengthen its position as a European leader in recycled tissue paper and sustainable hygiene products. For the third consecutive year, the company received Platinum certification from Ecovadis, placing it among the top 1% of the world’s most sustainable companies.
