Lucart celebrates 70 years of its foundation
With sustainability as its main agenda, the company gathered its stakeholders in a celebration event
Last week, Lucart, a European multinational tissue manufacturer, brought together customers and other stakeholders to celebrate the 70th anniversary of its foundation. The event took place at the Auditorium del Suffragio, in Lucca, Italy, the company’s hometown, and had sustainability as its main theme.
“Here, in 1953, the Pasquini brothers founded the Lucchese paper mill, giving life to a successful business based on sustainability and innovation. A success that is also reflected in the 31% growth in turnover which, at the end of 2022, exceeds 717 million euros,” reported the company.
The 70th anniversary celebration opened with Massimo Pasquini’s presentation of the results of the 18th Sustainability Report and continued with a series of lectures dedicated to the circular economy, social responsibility and safety. The event was moderated by journalist, presenter and environmentalist Tessa Gelisio.
“Celebrating the first seventy years of Lucart is a milestone that fills us with pride and drives us to continue pursuing the healthy ethical and business values that have accompanied the group since its birth,” commented Massimo Pasquini, CEO of Grupo Lucart. “What moves us here is the desire to create circular business models to regenerate and increase natural, social and economic capital, because we want to share a sustainable future with our stakeholders. A future with ever better results”.

THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY AND THE IMPORTANCE OF COLLABORATION BETWEEN THE INDUSTRY AND LARGE DISTRIBUTORS
The presentation of the 2022 Sustainability Report was also an opportunity to recall Lucart’s steps in the creation of the ecological hygiene paper segment.
Since 1997 – when the company was the first to launch toilet paper made from recycled paper with eco-friendly corn starch packaging and an Ecolabel certified label – to the present day, with the evolution of the EcoNatural lines and the launch of the Noè pallet, produced with polyethylene and aluminum recovered from recycling Tetra Pak® carton packs.
Not long ago, the new factory of Newpal was inaugurated, in the province of Ferrara, a company created by Lucart and CPR System to close the polyaluminum recycling cycle.
SOCIAL RESPONSABILITY
The historical corporate values of sharing, responsibility, care and vision are also reflected in the renewed partnership with Save the Children, active since 2020, through which Lucart is committed to supporting three important projects of the Organization: Spazio Mamme, Fiocchi in Ospedale and Punti Luce, the “points of light”, educational spaces that will be an opportunity to integrate corporate volunteering into Lucart’s activities.
SECURITY
The company also emphasizes its commitment to health and safety at work, a priority objective of Lucart’s management for many years.
“Lucart has always been committed to the environment, but also to the people who are really at the heart of the company”, said Massimo Pasquini. “We work hard on the issue of safety at work and 64% of our factories already have ISO 45001 certification. But that’s not all: we want to reach 100% by 2030 to guarantee all our employees not only a safe working environment and sustainable, but also an activity management system based on the highest known standards”.
