Six Domtar employees recently participated in the annual Pulp & Paperworkers’ Resource Council (PPRC) Fly-In in Washington, D.C., joining industry colleagues from across the country for a series of meetings with members of Congress and their staff on legislative and regulatory issues affecting the U.S. pulp and paper industry.
In addition to our six union representatives Jennifer Beard (Ashdown), Wendy Bodette (Nekoosa), Adam Clemens (Rothschild), Darrek Johnson (Johnsonburg), Joe Jordan (Plymouth) and Eric Pulliam (Hawesville), Domtar USA president Steve Henry and Seth Kursman, vice president of U.S. Public Affairs and Global External Communications were on hand to advocate on behalf of the industry.
The week-long event, held in June, gave employees the opportunity to share firsthand perspectives on how federal policy affects manufacturing operations, sustainable forestry and family-supporting jobs in the United States. Discussions centered on international trade — including support for renewing the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) and holding non-market economies accountable for practices that disadvantage American manufacturers — along with support for the Fix Our Forests Act (H.R. 471), concerns about the Recycled Materials Attribution Act (H.R. 7502), and the industry’s role as a leading producer of carbon-neutral bioenergy.

The PPRC was founded to give paper and pulp mill employees a stronger voice in public policy and represents members of the USW, IAM, IBEW, AWPPW, IUOE, CPU and Forest Products Industry Workers. Domtar’s participation reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to industry advocacy and to keeping employee perspectives part of the conversation as policy decisions are made that affect the future of the pulp and paper industry.
