Kruger Products announces the return of Kruger Big Assist to make field hockey more accessible in canada

Program invites Canadians to nominate minor field hockey associations and participate in public vote for the grand prize in 2024

Kruger Products, Canada’s leading manufacturer of tissue paper products, has announced the fourth edition of its Kruger Big Assist program, with the goal of making field hockey more affordable and accessible in Canada. Canadians have until February 11, 2024 to nominate minor field hockey associations and, for the first time, participate in the public vote for the grand prize in 2024.

Since its inception in 2020, Kruger Big Assist has worked to reduce financial barriers in Canadian field hockey. According to a public opinion poll, 78% of Canadians do not consider field hockey affordable, and 89% believe its cost impacts kids’ enrollment. To date, the program has donated more than $600,000 to more than 40 field hockey associations. This year, Kruger Products is committing an additional $200,000, totaling $800,000 to date.

Susan Irving, CMO de Kruger Products, said “At Kruger Products, we understand the pivotal role that sports play in bringing communities together, and the opportunities that present themselves when kids across Canada have access to sports” “Hockey is woven into the fabric of our country, and as a Canadian company, we’re proud to continue giving all kids the chance to play the game they love, while also introducing a new way for Canadians to become more involved in the Kruger Big Assist.”

The program also seeks to address the lack of diversity and equity in field hockey. In its fourth year, it will award $25,000 grants to five regional minor field hockey associations, with an additional $75,000 grand prize determined by public vote. The goal is to remove barriers and make field hockey more accessible, inclusive and equitable. Nominations can be made through February 11, 2024, and voting for the grand prize will take place in April 2024 after the five regional winners are selected.
