Essity has completed the acquisition of Edgewell Personal Care’s feminine hygiene business in a transaction valued at US$340 million, carried out entirely in cash and debt-free. The deal includes the Carefree, Stayfree and o.b. brands in North America, as well as the global feminine hygiene product rights to the Playtex brand.
The acquired business comprises a diversified portfolio of pantyliners and sanitary pads sold across the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. The transaction also includes a manufacturing facility located in Dover, Delaware, United States. The operations will be consolidated into Essity’s financial results as of February 2, 2026.
The acquisition aligns with Essity’s strategy to focus investments on higher-margin categories and strengthen its position in the North American market, considered the world’s largest hygiene products market.
“As we finalize this acquisition, we expect to accelerate the growth of these well-known brands using our proven recipe for success in feminine care. This strengthens Essity’s personal care business in North America and supports our ambition to grow in high-return categories and key geographic regions,” said Ulrika Kolsrud, President and CEO of Essity.
Essity continues to deliver consistent growth in the feminine care category, supported by a global portfolio of strong regional brands such as Libresse, Bodyform, Nana, Saba, Libra, Nosotras, Knix and Modibodi. The company operates across multiple market segments, offering products that include sanitary pads, pantyliners, tampons, intimate washes, intimate wipes, leak-proof underwear and menstrual cups, reinforcing its strategic relevance in the feminine hygiene sector.
