UPM achieves leadership-level scores in the 2025 CDP assessment

The company earned an A score in Climate Change and A- ratings in Forests and Water Security, highlighting its environmental performance and ESG transparency

UPM reinforced its position as a sustainability leader by achieving leadership-level scores in the 2025 CDP assessment, one of the world’s leading environmental disclosure platforms. The results reflect the company’s environmental efficiency and transparent management of climate, forest, and water-related impacts.

In the assessment, UPM received an A score for Climate Change, along with A- ratings in Forests and Water Security. According to the company, these results stem from an integrated sustainability strategy aligned with science-based targets, renewable feedstocks, and innovation-driven solutions.

In 2025, CDP assessed more than 23,100 companies, cities, states, and regions worldwide, evaluating performance across disclosure, awareness, management, and leadership on key environmental issues. High scores indicate strong governance, ambitious targets, and credible action plans aligned with global frameworks such as the Paris Agreement, the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), and the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).

The evaluation criteria include science-based emissions reduction targets, transparent reporting of Scope 1, 2, and material Scope 3 emissions, integration of climate risks into corporate strategy, and progress toward decarbonization. Forest-related criteria cover deforestation-free commitments, supply chain traceability, and sustainable forest management, while water-related assessments focus on basin-level risk analysis, efficiency targets, and governance.

UPM noted that CDP leadership also sends a strong signal to investors and stakeholders by demonstrating robust risk management, regulatory readiness, and long-term value creation within a rapidly evolving ESG landscape.
