Suzano announces new adjustments in pulp prices for November

According to the company, the adjustments vary between US$50 and US$80 per ton and will be applied in all markets

Suzano announced a new increase in the prices of eucalyptus fiber pulp for all regions, starting in November. According to the company, the adjustments vary between US$50 and US$80 per ton. Therefore, the adjustment announced for October, also in all markets, was fully implemented.

In the Chinese market, the increase will be US$50 per ton. From the second quarter onwards, due to the first increase after about a year – which was applied in June – prices in Asia began to recover. According to estimates, the value of the raw material would reach approximately US$630 per ton in November.

In the European market, Suzano informed that the adjustment will be US$80 per ton, bringing the list price to around US$980 per ton. North America will also see an increase of US$80, with the reference price estimated to reach US$1,170 per ton.

According to the largest producer of market pulp in the world, falling stocks in ports in different countries, heated demand for pulp and paper and the spread between short fiber and long fiber above historical levels support the new increase.

Demand in the pulp and paper sector in China is strong, driving double-digit growth in production compared to the same period last year, according to Suzano. The movement is due to greater exports and the resumption of post-pandemic consumption.

Europe, in turn, saw a resumption of orders from paper companies after a critical period for cellulose prices, indicating the end of destocking in the chain.

Additionally, unexpected shutdowns at facilities, especially among high-cost producers, affected the supply of short fiber and long fiber pulp, with a price differential that encourages migration to the first type of pulp.
