Domtar Reports Improved CDP Scores Following First Integrated Disclosure
By: Lauren Fisher
Domtar has reported improved CDP scores across all assessed categories following its first integrated disclosure covering climate change, water security and forests. In 2025, the company submitted a unified CDP disclosure that consolidates reporting previously issued separately by its legacy organizations.*
The latest results show an A- score in forests, B ratings for climate change and water security, and an A in the newly introduced commodities category.
Arianne LaBoissonniere, Manager of ESG** Risk Management & Disclosure at Domtar, commented on the results: “Our participation is voluntary, but many customers expect CDP reporting. CDP is a credible and globally accepted third-party platform that measures our sustainability performance and actions,” says LaBoissonniere.
DOMTAR’S CDP SCORES FOR 2025
Forests: A- — Focuses on how companies source wood and fiber responsibly, prevent deforestation and maintain sustainable forestry practices throughout their value chain.
Climate Change: B — Assesses how companies measure, manage and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, set targets, and disclose climate-related risks and opportunities.
Water Security: B — Evaluates how organizations manage water-related risks, ensure sustainable water use, and protect water resources across operations and supply chains.
Commodities (Timber): A — Domtar was assessed in the timber category.
“At Domtar, we value our CDP disclosure because it demonstrates the level of rigor, care and intention behind our approach to environmental management. From climate action to forest management to water stewardship, our partners, stakeholders and other interested parties can see exactly how we govern these issues, how we assess risks and opportunities, and how our measured actions support continuous improvement”, LaBoissonniere emphasizes.
IMPORTANCE OF CDP DISCLOSURE
CDP is a globally recognized, non-profit framework that champions environmental disclosure as standard business practice. As a third party, CDP scores companies annually on their environmental transparency and actions across four core areas: climate change, forests, water security and the new area of commodities management. CDP scores are public to encourage transparency.
Submitting a CDP disclosure helps the company track progress and share transparent updates with their customers, suppliers and stakeholders. Domtar’s sustainability strategy commits the company to ethical leadership and internationally recognized reporting standards.
OUTLOOK
Domtar’s improved CDP scores in its first integrated disclosure shows progress toward its goals under the company’s 2030 sustainability strategy, reinforcing its commitments to environmental stewardship, people and communities, and responsible business practices.
