A large-scale fire broke out early Tuesday morning at a warehouse located in Ontario, triggering a six-alarm emergency and a significant deployment of response teams.
The incident was reported at approximately 12:30 a.m. at a facility spanning around one million square feet, near South Hellman Avenue and Merrill Avenue. According to authorities, the case is being investigated as a suspected act of arson.
The fire spread rapidly due to the presence of paper products stored inside the facility, intensifying the situation. First responders quickly requested additional resources, escalating the emergency level as neighboring fire departments joined containment efforts.
By around 5:00 a.m., firefighters had shifted to a defensive strategy, using ladder trucks to battle the flames from outside the structure. This approach helped contain the fire within the warehouse and prevented it from spreading to nearby areas.
Residents in surrounding neighborhoods reported feeling the intense heat generated by the fire, although no damage beyond the facility was reported.
Authorities also confirmed that all employees inside the building were safely evacuated, with no injuries immediately reported. One person of interest has been taken into custody and remains under investigation as part of the case.
