On Wednesday, 22nd, Suzano, the leading pulp producer in Brazil, expressed its interest in acquiring the assets of American company International Paper. However, Suzano clarified that no agreement has been reached and no official decision or deliberation has been made by its management bodies that would constitute a material fact.
Suzano’s announcement came in response to an inquiry from B3, the Brazilian stock exchange, which sought clarification on the recent fluctuations in Suzano’s share price. Recently, Suzano experienced the largest drop on the Ibovespa index.
The company attributed the volatility of its shares since early May to media reports about the potential acquisition of International Paper.
“Finally, the company informs that it conducted the pertinent internal investigations and questioned its administrators about the news reported in the media before providing this clarification”, declared Suzano.
